Please consider attending one or both of the following fundraisers to help support our seniors traveling to Washington, DC in January. Each student has selected a topic related to citizenship that they will research further by
visiting our nation's capital where they will meet with government officials, business leaders, and non-profit professionals. Topics range from domestic animal advocacy, Asperger's Syndrome, business ethics, to police funding cuts.

The 2012 Winter Wilderness will be held on January 19-20 at Camp Pearlstein.
This year our Winter Wilderness will include an opportunity for parents to be involved in Crew activities. All students will depart from Northpoint campus at 9:00 AM on January 19. Camp activities will begin promptly upon arrival. Students will be with their crew and buddy crew for various events during this overnight. Parents are encouraged to join up for the entire time, or any portion of the activities (by RSVP). Students will be sleeping in cabins, in beds, supervised by Crew Leaders and parent volunteers. Some meals will be prepared for the group, and some will be prepared by the group. Activities will include challenges, rock climbing, large games, crafts, singing, skits, campfire, winter hiking and winter Olympics. The supply list will be provided soon and there is no fee for this activity. It is a mandatory portion of the second semester at Northpoint and will be a terrific way to welcome any new students to your Crew. All students will be back on campus by 3:30 on Friday January 20. Regular second semester classes begin on Monday January 23.
Please also note that departure for Winter Wilderness coordinates with the optional day three of the Site Seminar. There may be visitors and guests observing, assisting and participating.

Hello all:
I hope the snowfall and beauty of our second winter storm is finding you in a warm place! It has certainly put us all back on our toes for snow day/delay and bus alerts. I will use this time to remind you of our procedure.
Our school will follow the lead of area districts. If they determine that their buses cannot pass safely, then they call a snow delay (2 hours- 10:30 start) or a cancellation. Their announcements get to the radio, tv and internet first. Then we contact those entities also. So watch/listen and go with what you hear.
Because our morning bus must come from Ashfork we are also subject to their weather decisions. If they choose to not run the bus, then our bus riders will need an alternative plan to get to school. We will not cancel or delay based on the weather in Ashfork or roads between
here and there. However, we will get notice out as soon as possible and Ashfork also puts it on the radio stations when they cancel/delay.
Friday's are a little different. Although our classes are not in session- we have many students who are taking responsibility for their learning (An EL Design Principle) and coming in for extra help. That may be through Friday School, math tutoring or just on their own. If
there is a cancellation or delay, we will use the district decision. However, it is possible that teachers will still be here and students could come in to work. That will need to be arranged by email individually.
