CLUBS:

Honors Program

The Honors Program expands on Northpoint's commitment to provide a rigorous, college preparatory education that encourages students to demonstrate intellectual and character growth, and that gives all students the widest range of options for their futures. The Honors Program values real world experiences that expose young people to the excitement and complexity of the community beyond school walls, and beyond the school curriculum. Students in the Honors Program must be wiling to commit to completing curriculum projects, performing community service, and attending Thursday afternoon seminars. The Honors Program is available to sophomore, junior, and senior students through an application process at the beginning of each school year.

Student Council

Student Council, also known as Community Council, is our chosen student government at Northpoint Expeditionary Learning Academy. Elected and nominated student officers are representative of all grade levels and afford an outlet for student voice. The Council works to raise community spirit with events such as Dress-Down Day, Duct Tape your Principal to the Wall Day, Bake Sales, a Red Cross Blood Drive, and Dinner out with Alive at 25.

Rotary Interact

Interact (International Action) is Rotary International's service club for young people. Interact club provides support and guidance to students who want to make a difference in the world. This club will provide opportunities for students who are leaders, connect with the greater world and serve people in their community and internationally. This club will carry out two community service projects each year, including one that furthers international understanding and goodwill. This year we will be focusing on Thailand and Mexico for the May intensive for fundraising and opportunities for service once we are there. We will also be focusing on Children's 1st Academy, a 75% homeless rate K-8 school in Phoenix. Interactors also donate relief supplies to victims of natural disasters, organizing fundraisers to purchase books for needy schools, and volunteering their time and energy within the community. Interact clubs are self-governing and financially independent, making it possible to choose and carry out service projects that students care about.

Yearbook

Yearbook staff members are involved in every aspect of putting together the yearbook for publication, including interviewing students, covering school stories through photographs, layout and design, proofreading, and fundraising. If you like writing about real people and real events, if you enjoy taking pictures, if you’d like to design a book to be read and appreciated by a large portion of our community, then the Northpoint Yearbook may be for you. Unlike most of the clubs and activities listed here, Yearbook is actually a year-long course. Yearbook is always seeking creative, enthusiastic people for its staff. Members are given the rare opportunity to document their High School experience with words and pictures. Our goal: to capture the diversity of student life at NELA!
